As a mathematician, I’m highly interested in modeling the underlying mechanisms of the interplay between the immune system and the tumor. In close cooperation with cancer researchers, I derive mathematical models for understanding the development of hereditary tumors at the example of Lynch syndrome colorectal cancers. Being part of INDICATE makes it possible to use immunological data for calibrating the parameters in the mathematical model. By this, the development of adequate models reflecting real phenomena such as immunoediting is possible.
